  • About Task Force

  • The Instructional Technology Initiative (ITI) is a department within the Division of Instruction that supports all schools interested in 21st century instructional practices. The department's main focus is in providing professional learning opportunities founded on instructional frameworks that leverage technology in purposeful, personalized ways, such as the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards. Key efforts supported by ITI include digital citizenship, computer science, and the dissemination and integration of the ISTE Standards for Students.

Convened in April 2015, the purpose of the Instructional Technology Initiative (ITI) Task Force was to collectively research and identify a shared vision and ideal practices to support instructional technology efforts District-wide. Task Force meetings were designed as collaborative learning opportunities to hear from both District stakeholders and leading education technology experts. Initially, the ITI Task Force met each Thursday evening to learn and immerse together during the 2015-2016 school year. As a result of ITl's task force work, the ISTE Standards for Students, were formally adopted by the District in June 2016, making L.A. Unified the first school district in the nation to do so.

The ITI Task Force continues the tradition by meeting quarterly with all who attend to learn and immerse together around creative and dynamic ways instruction is enhanced by digital tools and resources. ITI Task Force meetings are open to all.
