Interoffice Correspondence - Expanded Learning Opportunity: Computer Science and Esports for Good Clubs
The purpose of this communication is to inform all schools about the Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP) Computer Science and Esports for Good Clubs. These extended learning clubs offer UTK-12 students engaging, hands-on learning opportunities with the most relevant and immersive technologies.

Mandatory Digital Citizenship Instruction
The Division of Instruction is launching mandatory Digital Citizenship instruction for all UTK-12 students starting this school year. Elementary schools will implement Common Sense Education's lessons, while secondary schools will deliver the "Digital Citizenship in the Age of AI" lesson. This initiative aligns with LAUSD policies to ensure a safe and responsible digital learning environment.

Announcing the 2024-2025 Supplemental Digital Instructional Tools. Centrally funded digital tools will be available for schools for specified grade levels. Schools can also purchase tools from the approved digital tools bench that align with their annual school plan goals.

As a first-time esports coach guiding the Blazing BEVA Builders, an extraordinary team of five dedicated middle and high school students, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the incredible impact of integrating digital tools and resources into our school’s first esports journey. This integration not only has enhanced our gameplay but also fostered essential skills and values that go well beyond the virtual walls of our school.
