Vaccine Guidance for Certificated Employees
Effective September 26, 2023, the Los Angeles Unified Board of Education rescinded its COVID-19 vaccine mandate. This includes employees, contractors, vendors, volunteers, charter school employees and prospective employees, who are no longer required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
We will continue to examine and update our health and safety protocols to ensure the health of all students, employees and everyone in the school community. We strongly continue to encourage vaccinations for all employees, volunteers, contractors, families and students.
Certificated Employees Currently in Unpaid Status (including unpaid leave)
As an employee currently in unpaid status (including unpaid leave), you are expected to return to an assignment within the District effective Monday, October 2, 2023. Please use this link and indicate if you intend to:
- Return to a District assignment
- Utilize benefit time to prepare for a return (formally request or extend a leave of absence)
- Officially resign from the District
If you intend to return to a District assignment, you will receive an assignment notification for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year. Responses need to be submitted no later than Monday, October 9, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. Failure to respond may result in discipline up to, and including, termination. Former Certificated Employees
As a former certificated employee, you are eligible to reapply for an assignment with the District. You may be required to submit documentation, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Fingerprint clearance
- Proof of Tuberculosis (TB) and medical clearance.
