WHAT IS IT?
The LA Unified Partnership with LA Metro Fareless System Initiative is a new pilot program for all TK-12 students, focused on helping students ride transit without the worry of paying fare. Los Angeles Unified is partnering with LA Metro to offer students unlimited rides until June 30, 2024 on buses and trains run by LA Metro and other participating transit systems, at no cost to families.

Once you receive your tap card for this program, register the card at taptogo.net/fareless

How do students get a tap card?
Your school will provide you with a tap card as soon as they are available.

If a student is brand new to Los Angeles Unified, how do they get a tap card?
Any students who enroll at Los Angeles Unified after the initial tap card distribution can ask their school for instructions on how to get a tap card.

Who can students contact to replace a lost/stolen card?
Students can ask their school for instructions on how to get a replacement tap card if their card is lost, stolen, or damaged. You will register the new card and the previous card will be deactivated.

What should students do if their tap card isn't working when they tap it?
Make sure to register your tap card by visiting taptogo.net/fareless before you try to use it. If you register the card but don't tap it within 30 days, you can get the pass re-loaded by calling 866.TAPTOGO (1.866.827.8646) M-F, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
