Patricia Pernin

 

Director

Patricia Pernin, Ed.D., serves as the Administrator Coordinator of the Los Angeles Unified School District Intern Credentialing and Added Authorization Program (iCAAP).  She also supported teachers and administrators as the coordinator for Learning Teams and has over 20 years experience as a Mathematics teacher.  Patricia has supported teachers and administrators in the area of Mathematics, facilitated the development of the LAUSD Mathematics Instructional Guide, and coordinated the Pearson Learning Teams program for over 90 schools in LAUSD.  She currently serves as the Regional Director for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Region 4 Intern Teacher Programs and is also the President of the California Teacher Corps.

Bonnie Ratner

Bonnie Ratner is the Human Resources Administrator for the Los Angeles Unified School District Intern Credentialing and Added Authorization Program (iCAAP). She has served the students and community of LAUSD for over 15 years in various roles including elementary school teacher, intervention teacher and coordinator, mathematics coach, and Talent Acquisition Specialist.

Stephen Maccarone

 

Teacher Adviser

Stephen Maccarone serves as a Teacher Adviser for Special Education with the Intern Credentialing and Added Authorization Program (iCAAP). Stephen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University, Northridge along with an Education Specialist Credential for Students with Moderate/Severe Disabilities. Stephen has been with LAUSD for 19 years, starting his career as a paraprofessional where he worked with students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and emotional disturbances across all grade levels. As a teacher he provided academic, behavioral, and vocational education to students with autism for 9 years. He also helped facilitate the creation of his school’s first student-run enterprise. Stephen has also served as his school's Department Chair and an Instructional Leadership Team member.

Jose Pallares

 

Teacher Adviser

Jose A. Pallares II, M.S., serves as a Teacher Adviser for the Intern Credentialing and Added Authorization Program (iCAAP). Jose has had the privilege of working with students with moderate to severe disabilities for over twenty years, serving as a paraprofessional, a health care assistant, supervising special education assistant and for the last eight year as a special education teacher working students with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities and Multiple Disabilities Orthopedic. He did this at both the comprehensive campus and Special Education Centers (SEC). During his time at the SECs Mr. Pallares focused on behavior management and vocational skills preparing his student to become productive members of their communities. Mr. Pallares was recognized by the Los Angeles Unified School District, Board of Education for his creation of Nobles Club, which was a lunch time inclusionary program that brought together students with moderate to severe disabilities and their typical peers.
