LGBTQ+ Affirming Policies
NAMES/PRONOUNS
Students and staff may be addressed by their asserted names and pronouns.RESTROOM ACCESSIBILITY
Students and staff may use the restroom that aligns with their affirmed gender identity.LOCKER ROOM ACCESSIBILITY
Students may use the locker room that aligns with their affirmed gender identity.SPORTS, ATHLETICS AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Students may participate in physical education and athletics that is in alignment with their gender identity.DRESS CODES AND SCHOOL UNIFORMS
Dress codes are gender neutral for students (LAUSD BUL 6494).
Staff may wear professional attire that consistent with their gender identity/expression.INCLUSIVE CURRICULUM
California Ed Code requires that curriculum is inclusive of LGBTQ+ identities (FAIR Education Act,
2011, CA SB 48).Family acceptance is a proven protective factor for LGBTQ+ youth. Data shows that LGBTQ+ youth who experience unconditional love from their families and greater communities are more likely to graduate, have better health outcomes, and have better relationships.
