The Educational Specifications include detailed descriptions of the functional and facilities support requirements for spaces defined in the Facilities Space Program, which include prototypical drawings; a narrative description of the space and its required finishes, services, educational equipment and special features; and diagrams showing the relationship of the space to other spaces within its unit and to the campus.

To prepare and update the Educational Specifications, the Section collaborates with members of the District's Educational and Instructional Services, Information Technology, Athletics Department, Food Services, and Maintenance and Operations.
