Picking the Right School for Your Student
La traducción en Español llegará próximamente.
It can be difficult to decide which schools and programs to rank highly when filling out the Zones of Choice application. We encourage you to research the schools and their opportunities before making your decisions. You can find information about the schools in your Zone on School Explorer, each school's website, or in the brochure on the Zone's page. You can find every Zone's page in our List of Zones. We also encourage you to tour the schools in the Zone to get to know their campuses and administrative staff. You can contact the school directly to arrange a tour.
Some of the questions you and your student should consider are:
- How far is the school from your residence?
- Does the academic theme/focus of the school match your student's interests?
- What is the graduation rate?
- What extracurriculars/sports does the school offer?
- Does the student have any siblings at the school?
- Does the school offer AP classes?
- What colleges and universities have the school's alumni attended?
- Does the school have proper accommodation for any special needs your student has (Special Ed, Gifted, ELL, etc.)?
