    The Office of Emergency Management of the Los Angeles Unified School District is dedicated to assuring that all District employees and students are prepared to respond to any emergency threat or hazard in a reasonable and responsible way and thus ensure that the highest level of safety during an incident is achieved.     Emergency Management Internship Program

    This internship presents a unique opportunity for aspiring individuals to immerse themselves in the dynamic field of emergency management and administration, offering a multifaceted experience that combines hands-on training, program development, and promotional activities. As an integral part of our team, interns will gain practical insights into organizing in-person emergency-related training sessions, contributing to the creation of training materials, and actively participating in emergency operation center support. The role extends beyond traditional responsibilities, providing exposure to data analysis, video content creation, and collaboration with the field of business continuity. Interns will not only play a crucial role in enhancing community safety but will also receive mentorship from professionals, fostering personal and professional growth. This internship is an opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on their community by contributing to emergency preparedness while acquiring valuable skills and experiences in the field of administration and emergency management.

    Position details

    Title: Administrative Intern I/II

    Pay rate/Hours: $24.45 -28.15/hr., up to 40 hrs./week

    Start Date: July 1, 2024

    Location: In-person in Downtown Los Angeles  

    Qualifications: Open to Graduate students enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program taking at least 6 units and Undergrad students enrolled in at least 12 semester or equivalent quarter units at a recognized U.S. college or university for the upcoming Fall 2024 semester.

    Education: Ideal candidate majors include, Emergency Management, Public Health, Public Policy, Public Administration, Criminal Justice/Homeland Security or other related field.

The mentorship and guidance I received were instrumental in fostering my professional development, providing me with a roadmap for success.

    Beyond the tangible skills acquired, the internship provided a platform for personal growth. I learned to approach challenges with a positive mindset, embracing each obstacle as an opportunity for learning and improvement. The supportive and encouraging atmosphere within the office fostered a sense of belonging, making my journey as an intern not only educational but also enjoyable.

    The skills acquired, relationships forged, and lessons learned have undoubtedly laid a strong foundation for my professional development.
