Background

The Strategic Enrollment and Program Planning Office (SEPPO) supports families with exploring and navigating enrollment options within the Los Angeles Unified School District. SEPPO also supports the District’s efforts to address the trend of declining enrollment and to increase equity and access to all educational pathways our District offers. 

Strategic Enrollment Pupil Services and Attendance Counselors

Strategic Enrollment Pupil Services and Attendance (PSA) Counselors are child welfare experts who assist families with understanding, exploring and accessing the variety of enrollment options in LAUSD.  Strategic Enrollment PSA Counselors support recruitment and retention of students.

Working with Pupil Services and School Design Options administrators, Strategic Enrollment PSA Counselors also ensure that students and families are able to access enrollment, overcome barriers to enrollment, and apply for specialized programs. Their work includes outreach to families and communities, support and engagement around CHOICES program access, and case management to ensure students receive coordinated support. 

In addition, Strategic Enrollment PSA Counselors collaborate with and support Student Attendance and Support Services, CHOICES programs, and Regional administrators to analyze and interpret student enrollment data.

Program Planning

The SEPPO team coordinates the development of programs that align with the District's strategic goals. SEPPO ensures academic continuity across schools and grade levels, assessing the effectiveness of pathways that allow students to explore specialized interests and participate in dual language programs. SEPPO also assists with the planning of programs with the goal of improving the District's student enrollment.

Zones of Choice

Zones of Choice means you have a bunch of wonderful school choices right in your neighborhood! Zones of Choice schools offer all sorts of programs, from art and business to science and social justice. They offer all kinds of awesome programs, from rocking out in band to building robots in science class. 

Zones of Choice residents get to pick which schools they want to go to from all the options in the Zone. There are big schools, small schools, and even special programs called academies. As long as you live in the Zone of Choice, you may apply for any school there!
