  • The Integrated Safe School Plan (ISSP) is due by October 1 every year. Plans can be viewed in emergency or planning mode and plans are now open for edits for the 2019-2020 school year. The ISSP due date for the 2019-2020 school year is Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

The direct URL for the Integrated Safe School Plan system is https://issp.lausd.net. It can also be accessed through the Principal's Portal.

The ISSP system incorporates the latest federal guidance and autopopulates key information, eliminates redundant inputs, and has a shorter printout than the old Safe School Plan Creator. All staff members are able to view the emergency plan online. Several resources for editing and using the plan are available in the Resources section below.

LAUSD schools are required to comply with California Education Code Section §32280-9, which mandates the preparation of school safety plans. These plans address violence prevention, emergency preparedness, traffic safety and crisis intervention. The District developed the Safe School Plan as a template for school safety plans for each of the District's 1000 schools. The template standardizes safe school plans throughout the District and minimizes the time required for annual updates.  A copy of the plan must be available in the Main Office of the school for public review.

The Safe School Plan covers emergency preparedness and response and crisis intervention and uses the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS is designed to centralize and coordinate emergency response actions among police, fire and other public agencies, including school districts. It provides an effective framework for managing emergencies ranging from minor incidents to major earthquakes, using a school site incident management team. LAUSD's Safe School Plan is compliant with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS).

Please review emergency team assignments periodically throughout the school year (and whenever there are staffing changes) to ensure that the information in the plan is current.  Content of the Safe School Plan also includes violence prevention, traffic safety, and student wellness, covering multiple legislative and Board policies.
