What is ELLP?
The Early Language and Literacy Plan (ELLP) is a collaboration between the Division of Special Education (CEIS), Division of Instruction, and Local Districts. By June 2018, all elementary schools in LAUSD will have had the opportunity to engage in a series of differentiated literacy professional developments based on expanding individual teachers’ knowledge of foundational literacy content and language development. PD content is designed to be facilitated by school leadership teams and shared with staff. The goal is to develop multi-tiered systems at each site to effectively address the needs of early emergent to fluent readers, so all students read, write, speak and listen with efficiency and accuracy by the end of second grade.

PASI (Phonological Awareness Screener for Intervention from 95 Percent Group)
The PASI is a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints specific skill deficits in the are of phonological awareness and facilitates teachers’ grouping of students for focused intervention based on the screener results.
If you would like the PASI code for your school site, please email Becky Canham at rebecca.canham@lausd.net.
Phoneme Substitution Screener
The 95 Percent recently released the Phoneme Substitution Screener. The assessment is designed to determine if students in grades 1-4 have achieved mastery in Phoneme Substitution, an advanced phonemic awareness skill.
There are two screening forms:
FORM X includes easier words for students in grades 1-2, andFORM Y has more challenging substitution prompts, including substituting sounds in a blend, allowing you to assess students in grades 3-4.
