     Reflection, Journaling, and Evidence Collection

One aspect of the CGDC process we are piloting is the collection of evidence to support the final evaluation that will be conducted by the employee and the manager/supervisor. This is especially important for the competencies selected for growth and development. In order to do this, there is evidence collection, reflection, journaling that goes along with the evaluation cycle. Examples of the types of information employees and managers/supervisors can include as evidence are anecdotal information, e-mails, copies of documents, and any other information or materials that support the employee’s work in one or more competency areas. Ideally, materials will be collected throughout the year and considered when the final evaluation is completed at year-end.

Collect work samples, commendations, feedback from stakeholders, etc., and any other types of support materials. If you receive feedback from a stakeholder, either negative or positive, please ask that the information be provided in writing. If you have incidents occur that are negative, documentation can still be included and you may submit information that indicates what you have learned from the experience and your plans for improving your performance under the same circumstances in the future.

We have provided a resource guide to help you in journaling, reflection and evidence collection.  We have also created tools that you may use in journaling. Please click on the links below for the resource guide and journaling tools.
