The Personnel Commission has entered into a contract with Skillsoft, a leading eLearning provider.There are several hundred online courses that are available for classified employee growth and development.To make access easier, Personnel Commission staff has aligned the available courses to the competencies found in the Classified Performance Framework. In order to access the courses, we suggest that you proceed through the following steps and utilize the tools that we have developed to help you navigate the courses.

The Classified Performance Framework
The Classified Performance Framework has been developed with the help of a number of stakeholders.This Framework identifies competencies, and corresponding behavior benchmarks, that are relevant to the positions in the classified service of LAUSD. There are 28 competencies in the Framework, across 7 competency clusters.

Classified Performance Framework Resource Guide
This guide familiarizes users with the Classified Performance Framework. It provides some background and assistance with navigation of the framework.

Self-Assessment
The Self-Assessment was designed to help employees determine which 8 to 15 competencies are most relevant to their position, and to assess their work performance against the benchmarks for those competencies. This is a tool that is for the employee’s use, and is not shared with the supervisor, or others, unless the employee chooses to share the information.

Self-Assessment Resource Guide
This tool provides background information and tips for navigating through the Self-Assessment. It is very helpful to review this resource guide prior to accessing the Self-Assessment.

MyPLN
The online courses that are available can only be accessed through the MyPLN platform (My Professional Learning Network). This site allows users to search for courses based on the competencies found in the Classified Performance Framework. Users can access and complete courses that are relevant for their own growth and development based on their Self-Assessment results.

Accessing Online Courses Resource Guide
This guide provides information and steps for navigating the MyPLN platform to find the courses that are desired. The site may appear a bit confusing at first, so we recommend a review of this guide prior to accessing the site.

Final note:We have access to several hundred courses, but we have not made them all available right away.We are working with a group of employees to help us review and organize additional courses so that we can align them to the framework competencies.Therefore, additional courses will be added over time.If you have any questions, please contact us at cgdc@lausd.net.
