    All Schools have access to Newsela Pro for LAUSD free of charge 

    Our Newsela partners have made their paid service, Newsela Pro, available in Schoology and open to all K-12 L.A. Unified teachers through June 30, 2020. Using this program in Schoology will allow you and your students to access the program in ALL your Schoology courses.Will be available through June, 2020.

    Good morning.  I wanted to update the ELLP Designees.  Please see the message below regarding the cancellation of th  95% Group PD on Saturday at Mulholland  as well as the ELLP Designee meeting on March 26th.  

    Following the recommendations suggested by public health officials to prevent the spread of coronavirus and protect the health and safety of everyone who would participate, (updated 3/13--all face to face PDs cancelled at this time.)

    • 95% Training on March 21st at Mulholland MS 
    • LA Unified's Elementary English Language Arts, ELLP MidYear Administrator and Designee Meeting scheduled for March 26th at Queen Anne Elementary from 9-12 and 3:30-6:30p  
    • Face to Face ELA Collaborative Meeting on 3/28 (Zoom call is being considered.  More details to come.)  
    • are all canceled.

    Dibels 8 MOY-All Elementary students must be assessed by February 7th:   The window is now open for MOY.  Please remember that all students need to be given the MOY DIBELs assessment.  The window will be open from December 2nd-February 7th. Please remember to consider ELs for reclassification, Progress Monitoring recommendations, and other considerations in Mem-051137.1 prior to giving assessment.

    DIBELS 8 Enhancement PD:  LD West will provide an additional 3 Hour Dibels 8 Amplify PD on Thursday, 9/12 at LD West- Training Room 1.     • Maze Online (Grades 2-5):  Directions for giving Maze online Instructions for online MAZE administration are here.
    • Maze Paper and Pencil-how to input online after giving (Grades 2-5):  After giving the Paper and Pencil MAZE and scoring, teachers will need to do the following:

    • Dibels 8 EnhancementsClick Here for flyer
      • A three hour online module will be available to teachers beginning  June 4th .  The module will work through the new enhancements in Dibels 8. Participants may register on My Pln-keyword: Dibels Enhancement.
      • A  three hour face-to-face Dibels enhancement PD will be held on many dates from June 11th-June 21st.  There are sites in the Valley and Los Angeles.  Teachers may sign up for any of the available options.  Revised Dibels 8 materials will be sent to the school site to be received before July 14th.  Participants may register on My Pln-keyword: Dibels Face to Face.  Also, a Benchmark companion class for an additional 3 hours will be available.  See flyer for details.

    • 95% Group:   Phonological Awareness and Beginning-Adv. The meeting will review Structure and Content of small groups and participants will be paid their hourly rate.  Principals should ask the two teachers to go to My Pln-Keyword ELLP. It will be the March 2nd at Twain MS.

    Schoolwide Title 1 sites-Guided Reading Materials Lead Teacher: Information will be forthcoming regarding the Guided Reading Materials Lead Teacher.

    • Amplify Reading: Please join us at Mark Twain MS on 11/29 or 12/3 from 3:30pm-5:30pm.  This training will introduce staff to Amplify Reading, an online Learning Tool provided to schools by the District.  This training is for teachers at Title 1 schools only.  Funding will not be provided as it is recommended to sent Amplify Reading Coordinator.  Register at My PLN.  Keyword-Amplify Reading.  Training details also available at: ldwestela-elementary

    • ELLP Designee:  All principals are asked to go to the following link to enter their ELLP Designee: com/ELLP-2018-19 .  In addition, the ELLP Designee will need to fill out acceptance at  bit.ly/ellp-confirmation  This will ensure payment of stipend in a timely fashion.

     

    Amplify Reading

    • Amplify Reading: Please join us at Mark Twain MS on 11/29 or 12/3 from 3:30pm-5:30pm.  This training will introduce staff to Amplify Reading, an online Learning Tool provided to schools by the District.  This training is for teachers at Title 1 schools only.  Funding will not be provided as it is recommended to sent Amplify Reading Coordinator.  Register at My PLN.  Keyword-Amplify Reading.  Training details also available at: ldwestela-elementary
