• Mobile Vision Services


    Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) in collaboration with vision partners, is offering no-cost, school-based vision services for K-12 students.The purpose of this school-based program is to expand a student's ability to access vision care during school hours while remaining in school and focusing on learning.

    • Services include screening, examination, and prescription fitting program services at school.
    • K-12 students are able to receive these services unless families opt out (per EdCode 49455.5 - all students are opted in)

Vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses at no cost to students.

Services are available to LA Unified students attending TK-12.

Services will be provided to all students, unless families have opted out. See opt-out information here: https://www.lausd.org/Page/19216.

Students will have their vision screened and students who fail the vision screening will have their eyes examined. If necessary, eyeglasses will be prescribed.

Through mobile clinics that visit schools.

The vision exam will take place during school hours at the school.

NO, screening and eye exams are at no cost to families.

NO, insurance information is not needed.

Students will have access to care within 15 minutes of arrival to the mobile clinic. Visits will not exceed 30 minutes. 

No, the child wearing glasses does not affect their eligibility to benefit from the service. In fact, they automatically qualify since we know they are in need of glasses.

Parents generally do not attend their child's exam. However, if there's a justifiable reason (e.g., students needs an aid to be present), then of course the parent can be present.

The student will be receiving a summary of their eye exam results. Also, they will be receiving a copy of the prescription after the eye exam has been completed.

YES, all health information is confidential.        

3-4 weeks from the date of the eye exam was conducted.
