Resources Available - N2Y, SEL, Inclusion, ULS 15 (HS)
Posted by JAMES HUMMEL on 4/2/2022 8:00:00 AMHi Teachers,
I previously indicated that Google Slides resources were available. I realized that I had not shared them in the correct location and this has been remedied.
The N2Y articles are HS level and have been recreated into Google Slides, which can be turned into an interactive Nearpod module by using the Nearpod Add-on in Google. There is a short "how-to" video located at the top of this page to show you how easily this can be done. Please remember to make a copy of the Google Slides presentations first so that you will have a copy in your Google Drive that you will be able to edit and make your own!
The SEL and Inclusion resources can easily be adapted to meet the needs of students in any grade level. These include Read-Alouds and multimedia for Sulwe by Lupita Nyong'o, Dreamers by Yuyi Morales, and The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. Take a look!
Reach out and share your favorite resources.
James

How to use this website...
Posted by Esther Mmagu on 2/13/2022This website is an entirely new tool for teachers across the District. With so much connectivity and digital collaboration available, the Superintendent's Office wanted teachers to create a space to create, curate and share resources with all teachers in LAUSD.
We are working to upload resources as fast as possible, but this resource is being built from the ground up and will take some time to become fully fleshed out.
Please be patient with us as we work to upload meaningful resources. Please feel free to ask questions on this page and contact us if you have resources to share or specific requests.
More detailed instructions to come as we know more. We go live February 15, so we are excited to see how this develops.

Scaffolded Math and Science
After teaching mainstream math and biology for 8 years, I got a job teaching special education algebra 2 and consumer math in a high school outside Boston. Soon after came a certification to teach students with moderate disabilities and a realization that teaching math to kids who are afraid of math is what I live to do. Every activity I make, every lesson I plan first asks, ‘Will this work for tough kids?
