New Employee Hiring Process

There are certain job classifications for which a school site can recruit and hire employees directly. If the job classification is not on the list below, the school site or office will select candidates to interview from an employment eligibility list. To be added to the employment eligibility list, you will need to apply and pass an assessment.

Job classifications for which an employment eligibility list is not required:
  • Athletic Assistant
  • Campus Aide
  • Communication Support Assistant
  • Community Representative
  • Counseling Assistant
  • Education Aide III
  • Education Resource Aide
  • Infant Care Aide
  • Instructional Aide I
  • School Integration Helper
  • School Supervision Aide
  • Out-of-School Program Worker (Youth Services)
  • Out-of-School Program Supervisor (Youth Services)

Prospective employees that are interested in one of the job classifications above should inquire with the school site or Youth Services.

Whether the school staff recruits on their own or receives names of eligible candidates from an employment eligibility list, the school site administrator or his or her designee will interview the candidates to determine which one is best fit for the position.

If the position is one for which the school directly hires, the school will contact the candidate to make a tentative offer; otherwise, the candidate will be contacted by a representative from Classified Employment Services who will make the official offer of employment.

If the offer is accepted, a new-hire processing appointment needs to be scheduled. School sites will schedule the appointment for positions for which they recruit while the Classified Employment Services Branch will schedule the appointment for those hired from the employment eligibility lists.
