    The purpose of this Reference Guide is to inform school sites of their responsibilities when students are receiving Behavior Intervention Development (BID) and/or Behavior Intervention Implementation (BII) services from a contracting Nonpublic Agency (NPA) on a public school campus and to clarify the relationship between the NPA, the school site, and the student.

    The purpose of this Reference Guide is to provide updated information and procedures regarding the documentation of Behavior Intervention Implementation (BII) services in the Welligent Service Tracking System. Behavior Intervention Implementation services will be assigned to and tracked by special education assistants/trainees, or others assigned to provide such services in accordance with California Code of Regulations 5 CCR §3051.23(e).


    This Reference Guide also provides clarification regarding the role of the BII provider, case manager, school site administrator, and Special Education Service Center Administrators (SESCAs) in tracking BII services. Behavior Intervention Implementation (BII) providers in all District-operated and charter-operated schools serving students within the LAUSD Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) are required to follow the procedures delineated in this Reference Guide.

    The purpose of this Reference Guide is to: (1) inform District employees of a recent addition to State law (Senate Bill No. 946), which requires private health insurance providers to provide behavioral support services to persons with autism or other pervasive developmental disorders (PDD); and (2) to provide school staff with procedures to follow when private insurance companies, providers, etc., request access to students with autism or other PDDs for the purpose of assessing for or providing private behavioral services.
