Statement from Superintendent Austin Beutner on Dangers of Vaping

The United States Surgeon General, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other public health officials have warned against the use of vaping devices, which contain varying amounts of nicotine and other harmful substances. Recent news reports from across the country, and in the communities served by Los Angeles Unified, have shed light on the harmful effects of vaping among children and adults.

“The impact on the students and communities we serve, totaling nearly 5 million people, is very real,” Superintendent Austin Beutner said. “Los Angeles Unified is taking action to inform students of the dangers, and is looking at other options to better protect them against this health crisis.”
