Los Angeles Unified Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho Appointed to Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council

Los Angeles, CA (June 21, 2023) – Los Angeles Unified Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho was appointed today to the Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council (HSAPC) by U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas. The Council is responsible for providing advice and recommendations to Secretary Mayorkas on matters including, but not limited to, campus safety and security, improved coordination, new career opportunities to support a 21st century DHS workforce and research priorities. 

“I am immensely honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council,” Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho said. “We are united in combating the threats our students and families face in our great nation, in ensuring safe passages to and from schools and in guiding on the equitable principles of our democracy. Now is the time to turn around and deliver the safety and security the American people deserve.”
