Interim Superintendent Megan K. Reilly on Recent Shooting Incidents
Our entire Los Angeles Unified family grieves the recent tragedy near Wilmington Park Elementary School, where one student was killed, and one student and one adult victim were injured in shooting incidents that are currently under active investigation by local law enforcement.
Throughout Los Angeles Unified, we work hard each and every day to foster a climate and culture that is welcoming and safe to all of our students, employees, families and community members. We continue to keep the families of the victims, and the entire school community at Wilmington Park Elementary School and Wilmington Middle School STEAM Magnet, in our thoughts and prayers as they begin healing from yesterday’s shooting. Our hearts are with those affected by this senseless tragedy that impacted our Los Angeles Unified family.
The social-emotional well-being of our school communities is a top priority and we understand that everyone utilizes different coping strategies. For those needing assistance or support in dealing with this crisis, we have counselors on-site ready to help and support our children and employees. For more information, please call 310.354.3519.
