Community Organizations Join
Los Angeles Unified’s Efforts to Reopen Schools
In a Safe and Appropriate Manner

More than two dozen community organizations today sent a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom and the State Legislature in support of Los Angeles Unified’s efforts to advocate for the safe reopening of schools. The organizations, ranging from the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and the PTA to Brotherhood Crusade and the Children’s Defense Fund, serve the needs of thousands of businesses and individuals across the Los Angeles area.

Superintendent Austin Beutner, who is leading state advocacy efforts on school reopening with the superintendents of six other large school districts in California as well as with all of the labor organizations which represent the more than 75,000 employees who work in Los Angeles Unified, commented, “We all have a stake in the success of the children in our local schools. The Governor and State Legislature should listen to those who work in schools and the communities we serve as they consider budget actions and policies which will impact schoolchildren in Los Angeles.”
