Statement from Los Angeles Unified

Los Angeles Unified is committed to reaching agreement with all labor partners, including UTLA, with whom we have been negotiating in good faith and have reached agreement on several topics. We are looking forward to our next negotiation session on March 17.

Over the past several months, we have offered ongoing salary increases and retention bonuses for all bargaining unit members: 5% ongoing wage increase for 2022-2023, 5% ongoing wage increase for 23-24, 4% one-time bonus for 22-23 and 5% one-time bonus for 23-24.

In addition, we have offered to provide market-driven pay increases of $20,000 for Nurses, $3,000 for PSAs, PSWs and School Psychologists, $2500 for Special Education Teachers and $1000 for Early Educators on top of the ongoing wage increases.

We have proposed class size reductions in all schools with further reductions and increased staffing in our highest needs schools.

You may find these and other proposals, including those on which we have reached agreement with the union, at

Los Angeles Unified is working around the clock to reach agreements that fairly compensate our employees and avoid disruption to our student learning.
