The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) has completed a Preliminary Environmental
Assessment-Equivalent report (PEA-E) for the Modernization Project at Crenshaw
High School in Los Angeles, California. The PEA-E presents the
findings of environmental investigations performed, documents the removal and
proper off-site disposal of less than one cubic yard of soil with elevated concentrations
of arsenic, and recommends the removal and proper
off-site of approximately 525 cubic yards of soil containing elevated levels of
arsenic. There is no immediate health risk because the contamination is
currently covered with asphalt.
