- Retirement: Membership in the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS).
- Associate or Higher degree from a regionally accredited Institution of Higher Education.
- Hold a Child Development Teacher Permit granted by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- 3 units of Child Development coursework: Infant and Toddler Development
- Adult, Child and Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (Online courses do not qualify)
- Human Resources Early Childhood Education Interview
Applications are reviewed on a continuous basis based upon District need and selection criteria

- Provide relevant documents:
- Associate (or higher) degree transcripts
- University and/or Community College transcripts
- Copy of Childhood Development Permit
- Copy of Adult, Child and Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED Certification
- Resume
- Cover Letter
- Provide contact information for professional references, including current or most recent school-based or child-centered employment
- Applicants may be contacted by Human Resources with requests for outstanding documents or information.
- Successful completion of the Human Resources Early Childhood Education Interview.
- Applicants who are deemed ELIGIBLE by Human Resources will be placed on the Early Childhood Education Teacher eligibility list for a period of two calendar year.
- Eligibility status is neither an offer nor a guarantee of employment in LAUSD
- ELIGIBLE candidates may apply to available positions for which they qualify
