Sun Valley Garage Air Quality Survey 12/22/2022
The Los Angeles Unified School District (District) commissioned an Air Quality Survey (AQS) to assess criteria air pollutant and toxic air contaminant emissions associated with on-site vehicular activity and related fuel dispensing operations at the Sun Valley Garage (SVG). SVG is located at 11247 Sherman Way, Sun Valley, CA 91352. Sun Valley Magnet School and the Innovative, Socially-Aware, Network of Achievers Cardinal Academy (ISANA) school sites are located immediately adjacent to SVG. The AQS was conducted as part of an assessment prompted by Sun Valley Magnet School community members.
To address concerns that the existing SVG operations could potentially impact the nearby school sites, an AQS was prepared to determine if emissions from the SVG constitute an actual health risk to students and staff.
Based on the thresholds from the California Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) and the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), hazardous air emissions generated from the sources at SVG do not pose an actual or potential endangerment to students and staff at the schools.
