Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the Mandated Training Status Report
The following are Frequently Asked Questions regarding the information provided in the Mandated Reporting status report.
* Click on the questions below to see a response.
New hires are automatically enrolled in the mandated training once they are issued a District email. They will receive notification of the training and will be given 30 days to complete training (Suicide Prevention Awareness Training has a six-week relative due date) from the date the course was assigned.
NOTE: Completion Reports may take up to 48 hours to refresh.
- As a principal, do I need to look at the information in this tab?
-
This status report was developed as an informative tool regarding District Mandated Trainings and using this is optional.
- One of my staff just completed the training this morning, but still shows incomplete in the report. Why?
-
The data in this report reflects all completions prior to 4PM of the previous day.
- I see staff in my report that are no longer part of my Cost Center. Can you remove them?
-
The information in this tab is consistent with the information in the SAP system. If you have staff that have transferred, resigned, retired, or have separated from the District, but continue to appear in your report, the status has not yet been processed. Contact your assignment technician to request a change of status. Once the status of that individual has been processed in SAP, they will no longer appear under your Cost Center.
- I just hired new staff. Do they have a different due date?
-
New hires are automatically enrolled in the mandated trainings once they are issued a District email. They will receive notification of the trainings and will be given 30 days to complete each training from the date the course was assigned.
- I have a staff working at my school, but I do not see them listed here, why?
-
The status report is specific to your Cost Center. Any itinerant staff, such as School Psychologists, District Nurses, or Psychiatric Social Workers are considered itinerant. Their respective department leads will ensure completion of mandated trainings. Additionally, the report does not include non-active employees, student workers, or student aide staff.
- I have a staff that are on leave, but still appear in my report. Can they be removed?
-
Staff that are currently on an extended leave of absence are still active employees and will remain in your report. They do not have to meet the due date but should plan to complete the trainings upon their return.
- Can staff complete these trainings on their own time, at home?
-
Staff should be directed to complete these mandated trainings during their regular workday.
- One of my staff just experienced the death by suicide of a loved one. They are struggling with the completion of the Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training (SPAT). What should I do?
-
Please consult with District Operations about other options, such as completion of the final assessment only and/or a review of the Suicide Prevention Awareness handout for staff. As a reminder, the training has been developed to provide psychoeducation about the warning signs and risk factors for suicide. As adults working with students, it is important that all District employees understand the signs and know what to do if they have concerns. For additional questions, reach out to the District contact below.
- One of my staff completed the cyber security training because their account got compromised, does he/she still need to complete the Annual Cyber Security Training?
-
Yes, the Annual Cyber Security Training is different and more comprehensive than the training module for compromised accounts.
-
IMPORTANT NOTE: WORKPLACE HARASSMENT PREVENTION TRAINING FOR NON-SUPERVISORY EMPLOYEES
Some staff may not show up as “completed” for the training for any of the following reasons:
- Staff members who are in Supervisor positions/classification are NOT required to complete this training.
- Non-supervisors are required to take this training every other year and new non-supervisor employees are required to take the training within six months of hiring. The employee may have completed a previous version of the training that is still within the 2-year compliance cycle. For a more comprehensive report on employee completion compliance for this training, please contact the Office of General Counsel to get a report for your site.
