Utilizing the Tools of Cultural Proficiency to Address Implicit Bias
(Sessions 1 and 2 only)
This interactive presentation builds on our understanding of implicit bias and how it influences daily practices within our classroom and schools. The tools of Cultural Proficiency are discussed on how bias can be acknowledged and addressed in our Instructional and leadership practices. Participants will understand how acknowledging bias and utilizing Cultural Proficiency can help us build on students' strengths and assets as a foundation for supporting all students, especially historically underserved students including English learners and students with special needs.

LAUSD’s STEP UP and Teach program helps classroom assistants who want to obtain an Education Specialist or teaching credential with a bilingual authorization by providing mentoring, guidance, and financial assistance. This year we are expanding to STEM credentials, as well.
The BOOST program is for any classified staff pursuing these same credential areas.
