• WEBSTER MS- STUDENT WELLNESS SPACE

Inspired by the Educator Mini-Grant, teachers at Webster MS worked with sixth grade students and families to create a “wellness space” for students. The wellness activity space was created on a patio just outside the sixth grade classrooms. The wellness space took time to complete as the sixth grade students designed their activities. This included scale drawings, sketches and write-ups for all activities. The Activity centers included a ball toss, air hockey game, ping pong table, a reading center to a bean bag relaxation center – students explained the how’s and what’s of their activities. Each activity center was planned and built by a different group of sixth grades students, using recycled materials. The sixth grade teachers also asked community business and organizations to donate some materials, which were incorporated into the Wellness Center.
