School Leadership Framework: A Closer Look
Leadership is an essential component of school success and it involves disparate and related skills that must be developed over time. As the foundation for leadership practices in LAUSD, the LAUSD School Leadership Framework (SLF) acts as a guide for school leaders to analyze, reflect upon and improve their leadership practice independently, with colleagues, and/or with their supervisor. The SLF also supports larger District initiatives, such as recruitment, induction, evaluation, and growth and development.
The SLF includes standards, components, and elements that:
- provide all LAUSD stakeholders with a common definition of effective school leadership.
- focus attention on the behaviors leaders exhibit to improve student learning, teacher effectiveness, and school culture.
- support the improvement of school leaders in LAUSD.
