A Look Into the EDSSL Cycle
EDSSL encourages employee
self-assessment and ongoing reflection (blue steps), conferencing (yellow
steps), and thorough observation and collection of evidence of school leader
practice (purple steps). The illustration below details specific steps of this process.
The EDSSL evaluation process is designed to support the growth and
development of school leaders. Actionable feedback is essential to increase
awareness of performance and to provide a maximum opportunity for individual
growth. Mutual respect and honesty should guide discussions during all phases
of the evaluation processes. The evaluator is to serve as a coach and provide
evidence-based feedback to promote progress in the professional performance of
the observed administrator.
