The Assistant Principal of the Year Program (APOY) honors assistant principals who excel in their dedication and support for the mission and vision of their school community.
Ten exceptional assistant principals from Los Angeles Unified have been selected as finalists to represent their schools and regions, with the opportunity to become the 2025 Los Angeles Unified Assistant Principal of the Year.
The Los Angeles Unified Assistant Principal of the Year engages all stakeholders towards a shared vision of equitable teaching and learning; reinforces and supports a culture of continuous improvement and high performance; and fosters a respectful school learning environment that addresses the intellectual, linguistic, cultural, social-emotional, and physical needs of each learner. The Assistant Principal of the Year will serve as a representative of Los Angeles Unified, inspiring innovation and excellence.
2026 ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR
Any LAUSD employee, parent, or student may submit a nomination.
To be eligible an assistant principal must:
- Have completed three (3) full years as an assistant principal, though not necessarily in the same school.
- Reinforce and support an environment that respects and celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion among staff and students.
- Demonstrate evidence of significant contributions to the well-being of the school community.
The nomination window will open on November 3, 2025. Submissions will be accepted through a Google Form that will appear here on November 3rd.
