Reasonable Accommodation
A reasonable accommodation should enable an individual/employee to carry out all essential functions of their job classification. This involves reviewing competent medical guidance from the employee's healthcare provider. An interactive meeting is held between the employee, their supervisor, or district representative to identify effective accommodations and alternatives. This interactive process is continuous and should occur whenever there are changes in the employee's work status, new restrictions are imposed, or the current accommodation becomes ineffective.

Resources/Forms:
Reasonable Accommodation Bulletin 4569.4:
The Reasonable Accommodation for Employee/Applicant with Disabilities provides guidance and procedures for responding to employee/applicant requests for a reasonable accommodation(s) and a reasonable accommodation appeal(s) and includes the revised Record of Interactive process (Attachment A), Reasonable Accommodation Application (Attachment B), and Appeals of the Reasonable Accommodation form (Attachment C).
Attachment A:
Attachment A documents the interactive process between the Administrator, Manager, Supervisor, or Designee and the Employee/Applicant to determine whether an employee/applicant may provide a reasonable accommodation to assist them with their essential job duties.
Attachment B:
Attachment B is used by the Employee/Applicant if a reasonable accommodation could not be provided at the work site for any reason; the employee must complete the attachment if they would like to process to a "formal" Reasonable Accommodation Committee meeting.
Attachment C:
If the Reasonable Accommodation Committee did not approve the Employee/Applicant's request for an accommodation, they could appeal the Reasonable Accommodation Committee's decision, and this is only necessary if the employee applied for reasonable accommodations with the Committee and was not approved. The appeal must be filed with the District's Educational Equity Compliance Office within thirty (30) calendar days of receipt of the decision.
