In Case You Missed It: State Budget Negotiations Currently Underway

SurveyThe California legislature is currently in negotiations with Governor Newsom to finalize the state’s annual budget, which must pass by June 15. This budget determines how much funding LAUSD will receive next school year.    The Governor’s recent “May Revise” state budget proposals included:

  • A $3.9 billion withholding of constitutionally guaranteed Proposition 98 school funding.
  • More one-time discretionary funds and funding for special education.
  • A requirement for school districts to fund up to 14 weeks of paid pregnancy disability leave for all school employees.
LAUSD will continue to advocate for additional funds over the coming weeks. Learn more about the process here
