LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools has approved Los Angeles Unified’s 2026–27 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and conditionally approved the District’s 2026–27 Adopted Budget.
The conditional budget approval requires Los Angeles Unified to submit additional information to the County Superintendent by the statutory deadline of October 8, 2026, including an implementation timeline and support detail for updates to the District’s Fiscal Stabilization Plan, as well as an updated cash-flow projection. The County Superintendent will review the District’s response and make a final determination on the budget, as required, by November 9, 2026.
Los Angeles Unified remains focused on strengthening the District’s long-term financial stability while maintaining local control and directing resources to the schoolhouse. The District will carefully review the County Superintendent’s findings and conditions and provide the required response within the established timeline.
