LA Unified Re-Elects Dr. Rocio Rivas as Board Vice President for Second Consecutive Year
Board reaffirms trusted, values-driven leadership defined by equity, constitutional rights, and the well-being of our communities.
Los Angeles (Dec. 16, 2025) – The Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education has re-elected Dr. Rocio Rivas as Board Vice President, recognizing her continued leadership, collaborative approach, and unwavering commitment to students, families, and community dignity.
Under Dr. Rivas’ leadership, the Board has advanced bold, values-driven action — most recently with the unanimous passage of Resolution 086-24/25, Upholding Our Constitutional Rights and Standing with Immigrant Communities. The resolution reaffirms LAUSD schools as sanctuary spaces, condemns the militarization of immigrant communities, and calls for full legal protections for all students, families, and community members, regardless of immigration status.
Dr. Rivas’ re-election reflects the Board’s trust in her ability to lead with clarity, compassion, and courage — centering safety, belonging, and constitutional rights in every school across the District.
“Serving as Vice President of the Board is an honor I don’t take lightly. I’m grateful to my colleagues for their trust and I am committed to leading with integrity, collaboration, and courage,” said Board Vice President Dr. Rocío Rivas. “Together, we will keep centering students and families, strengthening our schools, and advancing equity in every decision we make.”
