255 LA Unified Schools Honored for Positive Behavioral Supports

255 LA Unified Schools Honored for Positive Behavioral Supports

LOS ANGELES (Sept. 11, 2025) - Los Angeles Unified is proud to announce that 255 schools across the District have been recognized by California PBIS for excellence in implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

The California PBIS notes that its mission is to “build and support integrated and sustainable approaches that expand the capacity to promote evidence-based, culturally relevant social, emotional, and behavioral practices that create thriving school and community environments.”

“This recognition is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our educators, staff, students, and families to foster safe, supportive, and inclusive school communities,” Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho said. “Positive school culture is the foundation for academic success, and I am deeply proud that Los Angeles Unified is being recognized for leading the way in this critical work.”

“We are so proud of all the schools being honored,” Board President Scott M. Schmerelson said. “This is an important recognition for the hard work of students, staff, and community, and it also serves as a powerful inspiration for all our schools.”

For the 2024–2025 school year, the following Los Angeles Unified schools were honored:

  • Platinum Recognition: 7 schools
  • Gold Recognition: 47 schools
  • Silver Recognition: 179 schools
  • Bronze Recognition: 22 schools
