Joint Statement by Superintendent Austin Beutner
And CSEA Chapter 500 President Letetsia Fox
LOS ANGELES (December 10, 2020) – Los Angeles Unified, the California School Employees Association (CSEA) and its Los Angeles Chapter 500 have reached an agreement on how to reopen schools as soon as it is safe to do so. While the overall level of COVID-19 at this time is dangerously above the state guidelines for the possible reopening of schools, Los Angeles Unified and CSEA Chapter 500 are working to prepare for the eventual return of students.
CSEA Chapter 500 represents 3,800 office technicians, licensed vocational nurses, library aides, and other professional clerical and office employees.
“The agreement between Los Angeles Unified and CSEA Chapter 500 represents our shared commitment to the health and safety of all in the school community,” Superintendent Austin Beutner and Chapter 500 President Letetsia Fox said. “We are grateful for the tireless efforts of CSEA Chapter 500 employees who make sure our students are supported and ready to return when it’s safe and appropriate to do so.”
This agreement is subject to approval by the Board of Education and CSEA’s membership.
