Statement from Los Angeles Unified Superintendent Austin Beutner
Today, Los Angeles County declared a health emergency which creates a mechanism for officials to ask for funding and medical support from county, state and federal government agencies. It also provides resources for staffing and agency coordination.
The County also announced there are 7 known cases of coronavirus in the area. The individuals with the virus had close contact with individuals who traveled to Italy or with someone who had the virus.
County health officials have told Los Angeles Unified there is no known connection, at this time, between the individuals with the virus and our schools and that it is safe for all schools to remain open on a normal sch
