The Glendale Unified School District is lucky to have her. We thank her for her hard work and dedication to our students, families and employees, and we wish her all the best in her exciting new role.”
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the students, families and employees of Los Angeles Unified,” Dr. Ekchian said. “I will be leaving with wonderful memories of the amazing achievements of our students and the transformative work taking place in our schools. I am excited for this new opportunity and look forward to joining the Glendale Unified School District family.”
The Los Angeles Unified Board extended its congratulations to Dr. Ekchian:
“We congratulate Dr. Ekchian on this appointment and wish her all the best in her role as the new superintendent of the Glendale Unified School District. An immigrant to the United States, Dr. Ekchian started her career in Los Angeles Unified over 30 years ago as a third-grade teacher at Union Avenue Elementary. From there, whether she was overseeing our Human Resources and Labor Divisions, serving as Superintendent of Local District Northwest or leading as our Interim Superintendent of Los Angeles Unified, Dr. Ekchian has always gone above and beyond to advocate for and support our students, employees and families. She is an inspiration to all of our students and leads by example, having just graduated with a doctoral degree from the University of Southern California. We are grateful to Dr. Ekchian for her leadership and guidance, and we thank her for her unwavering commitment to the entire Los Angeles Unified family.”
