Dr. Maria Ott Joins Los Angeles Unified as Executive in Residence

 

Dr. Maria Ott LOS ANGELES (May 30, 2019) — Superintendent Austin Beutner announced today that University of Southern California professor Dr. Maria Ott will return to Los Angeles Unified as Executive in Residence, serving as a senior adviser on leadership, development and change management.

“We are excited that Dr. Ott will be joining our team as an expert resource,” Superintendent Beutner said. “Her extensive education experience and knowledge of Los Angeles Unified will be valuable in our efforts to sharpen our focus on schools and classrooms.”

Dr. Ott previously worked for Los Angeles Unified as a teacher, principal, administrator and Senior Deputy Superintendent under former Superintendent Roy Romer. She also served as superintendent of the Rowland Unified and Little Lake City School districts. She is nationally recognized for her leadership in propelling academic success for English-learners.

Dr. Ott joined the USC Rossier School of Education in 2012 as Executive in Residence. She will continue in her role as Professor of Clinical Education.
