Statement by Board Member Kelly Gonez on DACA Ruling
“Today is an important victory for our Dreamers. Congratulations to our hundreds of thousands of immigrant young people, advocates and organizations who have fought so hard to protect DACA. There are over 112,000 DACA recipients in Southern California, and I am proud to represent the Dreamers in the East San Fernando Valley -- students, parents, teachers, and other school staff.
Let’s use this momentum to reopen DACA applications and extend protections for our undocumented community. This is not the end of the fight. We will continue the work so that not just our Dreamers, but all undocumented folks have a pathway to citizenship.”
