Statement by Superintendent Austin Beutner on DACA (11-12-19)

DACA has protected nearly 800,000 young immigrants from deportation, allowing them to pursue a good education, a good job and a better life. The importance of securing these rights for Dreamers is why, in 2016, I joined education, business and civic leaders in signing an Amicus Brief with the U.S. Supreme Court supporting the expansion of DACA. As a first-generation American, I’m proud to lead Los Angeles Unified and our efforts to provide a great education to all students and to welcome all families.
