“Remembering the Armenian Genocide:” A BD6 Student Showcase Night

Posted by Board District 6 on 4/19/2023

Our office partnered with the Armenian National Committee of America’s Education Committee to host our first annual commemorative student showcase, “Remembering the Armenian Genocide” at Mount Gleason Middle School on April 19th.  Over 250 students, parents, teachers, and administrators gathered to recognize the Armenian Genocide and honor Armenian history through student performances and presentations. Also present were several Armenian authors, educators, and District staff members to provide free resources, educational materials, and art supplies to students. Check out our KLCS Snapshot and images below to learn more about this powerful event.

We were also invited to Ms. Anush Muradyan’s 6th grade Dual-Language Armenian History class, where members of the ANCA, our office, and parents were treated to student presentations focused on celebrating the rich past and present of Armenia and expressing hope for its future. With the guidance of Ms. Marudyan, students explored ancient and modern Armenia, famous Armenian icons, and presented their work in both Armenian and English. You  can see them and their beautiful presentations below!
