You’ll get an understanding of how these districts have moved from COVID-19 response to strategic transformative work, and what it means to create sustainable environments around technology spending, flexible professional learning and the creation of powerful digital content for students.

Educators' quick pivot to remote learning impacted teaching practices in multiple ways, especially in how they learned new skills. This interactive session with the ISTE Board of Directors shares how educators successfully managed the switch to online learning and provides an opportunity to recover, reconnect and discuss professional learning models and key components to reimagine professional learning.

Start with Teachers As Creators to Build Student Media Literacy

As tech tools become more accessible, let’s embrace the next step: integrating media-making in classrooms to center student voice and creativity. Get hands-on with LAUSD's Instructional Technology Initiative and public media’s KQED and learn how they partnered to support 32 Practitioner Schools to integrate media projects PK-12.

A Recipe For Success: Deconstructing Complex Ideas With Digital Tools

Attendees will communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively by participating in a virtual "food basket challenge" using a variety of digital tools to create a recipe that is represented by either visualizations, models or simulations.

This session will provide strategies and resources edtech coaches need to support peers in becoming digital age educators.

Creating Student-Centered Innovation Zones to Promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Through the creation of ISTE-Inspired Innovation Zones, participants will learn to leverage coding/robotics, media arts/literacy, science lab/makerspace and LEGO Innovation Lab to support student literacy, numeracy and social-emotional/wellness.

Creating Digital Citizen Leaders

See how students became agents of change and leveraged digital tools to create a schoolwide digital citizen campaign. Leadership students created a curriculum, planned and led activities and workshops for their younger peers. All students created a digital citizen pledge.

ISTE Student Standard 6 Creative Communicator: Creating Custom Messages for Intended Audiences

Participants will engage in the four elements of a project process to create a custom message for intended audiences using digital citizenship as the topic. Participants will walk away with all the resources and a lesson template to deliver a four elements process lesson with any subject matter content.

Reaching Beyond the Classroom: Global Collaborator

Using ISTE's Global Collaborator standard to support educators during remote learning, this session is focused on the concept of global collaborator through the exploration of a real-world issues, namely the Sustainable Development Goals. This workshop’s foundational design element is student engagement.

Leading for Change: Designing Equitable Instructional Programs
Dr. Cherina Betters, Sophia Mendoza, Sonal Patel, & Dr. Christina Pierce, Ed.D.
We'll discuss the connection between instruction, equity and access by understanding the future of education and the need to embed state standards, global competencies, technology and evidence-based equity practices in all lessons and activities through the use of innovative pedagogical tools such as HyperDocs and choice boards.
