A Message from Board Member Tanya Ortiz FranklinDear Board District 7 (BD7) community,
The first couple of weeks have been a phenomenal return to school (despite the unpredictable weather challenges that led to the one day closure of schools). We are visiting all 175 BD7 schools in the first weeks of school and are so impressed by the relationships being built, lessons being learned, and problems being solved. We look forward to continuing to visit our schools and community throughout the school year and invite you to stay in touch by connecting with us on social media @lausdbd7, emailing us at bd7@lausd.net , and/ or calling us at (213) 241- 6385.
This year, I’m looking forward to chairing the Board’s previously dormant School Safety & Climate Committee, starting September 21st. I’m proud that we are starting the year with more classrooms and schools fully staffed with highly-qualified and better compensated teachers and staff. And I’m grateful to have even more families, volunteers and partners on campuses serving our scholars together.
Read on to learn more about our BD7 updates, highlights, board meeting updates, and much more!
With gratitude,
Tanya |
