GIFTED/TALENTED PROGRAMS

  • Program Options

LAUSD GATE programs provide high-quality differentiated instruction with an emphasis on depth, complexity, acceleration, and novelty. They offer high-level academic opportunities that meet the unique needs of K-12 gifted learners. Acceptance is based on eligibility criteria, availability of space, and program-specific selection process. LAUSD GATE program options include:

Resident School GATE Program (all schools cluster gifted students and provide differentiated instruction)

Schools for Advanced Studies (SAS) (147 demonstration sites across the District)

Magnet Programs (including 52 Gifted Magnets and 4 Highly Gifted Magnets)

Honors and Advanced Placement classes (middle and senior high schools)

Conservatory of Fine Arts (supplemental Saturday instructional program, students identified have first priority)

The Unified Enrollment/Choices process allows families to apply to multiple District program options, including Schools for Advanced Studies (SAS) and Magnet, using a single application. The on-time 2024-2025 Choices application process will be available on October 2, 2023, at https://GoTo.LAUSD.net. On-time Choices applications may be edited up until the November 17, 2023 deadline.
