Our five (5) Opportunity Schools provide a supportive environment with specialized curriculum, instruction, guidance and counseling; psychological services; and tutorial assistance to help students overcome barriers to learning. Three of our schools also support pregnant minors. Our Opportunity Schools provide comprehensive academic programs that facilitate positive self-esteem, confidence, resilience, and personal growth with the goal of helping students return to traditional classes and programs.

What makes an Opportunity School unique?

Students are required to attend school 250 minutes daily. Teacher-Student Ratio

Who is eligible to enroll in an Opportunity School?
- Students 9th through 12th grade
- Students who have been identified as habitually truant.
- Students who need intensive academic intervention and/or social-emotional adjustment

How do you enroll in an Opportunity School?

A student, in agreement with the parent, may transfer voluntarily to an opportunity high school. A student who has voluntarily transferred shall have the right to return to the traditional high school at the beginning of the following semester or, with the consent of the traditional high school, at any time.

Students currently attending an LAUSD traditional high school should contact their current administration or counselor to request a transfer and coordinate an intake conference with the opportunity high school of choice.

Prior to enrollment, students and parents are expected to schedule an intake conference with the Opportunity High School of choice. The purpose of the intake conference is to provide an opportunity to visit the school, meet with the principal, learn first-hand about the unique features and requirements of the school, and have
