  • LAUSD & UCLA Extension College Advising Program

The A-G Intervention and Support office is excited to announce a new partnership with UCLA Extension to provide LAUSD middle and high school counselors and college advisors the opportunity to participate in the College Advisement Program (CAP). The CAP is based on UCLA Extension’s College Counseling Certificate, widely regarded as a national leader in college counseling and admissions courses. In the LAUSD/CAP partnership, selected applicants will complete a yearlong four-course series with tuition and materials provided free to LAUSD participants.

We have received confirmation that the courses for the College Advisement Program (CAP) can be used towards salary point credit. The new LAUSD/UTLA Bargaining Agreement, Article XV, Section 5.0 allows for salary point credit can be granted for courses paid for by the District

There are multiple cohort start dates. Review the calendar options HERE to determine which cohort might be best for you. Each cohort will enroll approximately 150 participants.

NOTE: If you were previously enrolled in an LAUSD cohort, you will not be able to enroll in this cohort. At this time, we are enrolling first-time students. There may be an opportunity for you to rejoin a cohort in the Spring.

Winter 2024 - Is open NOW and closes on December 1, 2023

    Spring 2024 - Opens March 2024

After submitting your application, an endorsement form will be sent to the direct supervisor indicated. Candidates will be informed of the status of their application via email. Each new cohort will have its application window. There are no waitlists or sign-ups for a future cohort.
